HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY PREVIEW

Q&A WITH DRIVER JEFF GREEN:

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS WEEKEND'S RACE? "It should be interesting. I'd love to see Matt (Kenseth) have a shot at the championship at the end of the race. He's a good friend, and I'd love to see him win another title. Since our team has a close relationship with Hendrick (Motorsports), it wouldn't hurt my feelings to see Jimmie (Johnson) win it, either. He's a good guy, and his team has been so strong these past few years. They're due. I hope it comes down to the last lap, for the sake of the fans.

"As far as our chances this weekend? I'm very excited about our chances. We couldn't have asked for a better test than what we had here a few weeks ago. I think we were fourth or fifth-fastest overall, and the car felt great in qualifying and race trim. Harold (Holly) has tweaked a few things from the test, so hopefully we'll be even better.

"I'd love to finish the season strong, with another top-10 or even a top-five. I think that would give our guys a good feeling heading into the off season, and will help to motivate them over the next month or two. I know I'm motivated and ready to get 2007 started. I think we'll surprise some people next year."

WHAT ARE YOUR OFF SEASON PLANS? "Well, we'll go spend some time with the family up in Kentucky on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Otherwise, I'll be hunting as much as I can, and I have a couple of cars I'm working on at my shop right now. I'm just about finished with a 1941 Willys that I built. It has about 900 horsepower and runs on pump gas, believe it or not. I just fired it up for the first time about a week ago. I need to get the interior finished on it and it will be ready to go.

"I'm also rebuilding a 1969 (Chevrolet) Camaro. I'm going to strip it down and pretty much rebuild it from the ground up. I love getting my hands dirty and tinkering around my shop, so it's something fun to do that keeps me out of trouble."

Q&A WITH CREW CHIEF HAROLD HOLLY

YOU'VE BEEN A BUSY MAN SINCE YOU JOINED THE NO. 66 TEAM A FEW WEEKS AGO. WILL YOU GET SOME DOWNTIME ONCE THE SEASON ENDS, OR IS YOUR CALENDAR FULL? "Normally, I'd spend a few days in Florida after the season, but we have the open house at the new Haas shop on Monday, so I'm heading back. My wife and I are taking some time off in early December, but otherwise, it's going to be wide open at the shop.

"Pam and I got married two years ago, and I keep promising her to take her on honeymoon, so that's what we're doing here in a couple of weeks. We're heading down to St. Maarten to take it easy and relax for about a week, so that should more than make up for not being able to spend more time in Florida this year. She's been great to me, so she's due for a real vacation and a real honeymoon, that's for sure.

"As far as testing or anything between now and the Daytona test, I'm thinking we're going to spend some time testing at Lakeland (Fla.- USA International Speedway). We also want to go to Iowa and test, but I'm thinking it will probably be a few months before the weather will cooperate. If I have to choose between Florida and Iowa, I'm choosing the warmer weather."

SUCCESSFUL TEST: Jeff Green and the No. 66 Best Buy Racing crew had a very successful test session at Homestead-Miami Speedway last month. Green posted the fastest lap time of the final session of Nextel Cup Series testing at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Wednesday, Oct. 18. Unofficially, Green's lap time of 30.921 seconds, at an average speed of 174.639 miles per hour, was the fourth-fastest time of the three-day session, just behind the times posted by Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, and Kurt Busch.

CHASSIS: The No. 66 Haas CNC Racing team is bringing Chassis No. 009 to Homestead-Miami Speedway. This is the same car the team tested with at Homestead in mid-October. Prior to the test, Green most recently drove the car in the Nextel Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway on October 1, where he finished 30th.

DROPPING A LINE: While Jeff Green is spending his time hunting at his farm in Kentucky before heading to south Florida this weekend, Green's crew chief, Harold Holly, plans to indulge in one of his favorite hobbies. Holly, who is an avid fisherman, will join members of Haas Racing's No. 00 Busch Series team on a fishing trip off the coast of Islamorada, Fla., on Thursday.

Holly: "I'm not sure what we're fishing for just yet. We'll have to see once we get down there. If the wind's coming out of the north, we'll fish for Sailfish. If the wind's out of the south, we'll bottom fish for anything from Grouper to Red Snapper, Yellow Tail Snapper, or Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi).

"It'll be the first time I've had the chance to fish since I moved over to the Best Buy team. Fishing is my main way of relaxing. I love it about as much as Jeff loves hunting. I'm looking forward to a relaxing day, hanging out with some of the Haas guys, and maybe we'll bring home some meat for the freezer while we're at it."

CHARITY WALK: Jeff Green will be one of the drivers taking part in the NASCAR Foundation Track Walk around Homestead-Miami Speedway on Saturday morning. In return for a monetary donation to the foundation, fans get the chance to walk one lap on the actual track surface, accompanied by drivers, TV personalities and other NASCAR celebrities. The money raised from this event benefits the Victory Junction Gang Camp, as well as the Darrell Gwynn Foundation.

NEW DIGS: Haas CNC Racing is holding a special invitation-only open house on Monday, November 20, to showcase the team's new facilities in Kannapolis, NC. Employees are moving equipment from the team's present shop in Concord, NC, to the new 140,000 square foot facility in the Kannapolis Gateway Business Park, and team members will report to work at the new location Monday morning.

The new shop boasts a seven-post shaker rig, used for dynamics testing by the team, and a Haas CNC Machine room, which will be used to build parts and for research and development.

In the very near future, there will also be a Best Buy room, featuring interactive displays of the latest communications, navigation, audio and video technology available at both www.BestBuy.com and Best Buy retail locations.

Visitors will be able to test the latest gaming systems, including Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, watch a movie on a state-of-the-art home theater system, play hand-held video games, and check out the latest communication offerings from Sprint and Nextel. Best Buy hopes to eventually offer visitors the ability to actually order merchandise at a kiosk set up on site.

Beginning Monday, fans can visit the shop by taking Interstate 85 north to Exit 54 to the Kannapolis Parkway and turning right onto Highway 73. Turn left into the Kannapolis Gateway Business Park, and the Haas CNC Racing shop is located at the end of the street.

JEFF GREEN'S HISTORY AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY: In five Nextel Cup Series starts at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Jeff Green's best starting spot and finishing position both came in the November, 2001, race, while driving for Richard Childress Racing. Green started ninth and finished ninth in that event. Engine troubles have plagued Green at Homestead, resulting in three finishes of 37th or lower in five races.

HAAS CNC RACING'S HISTORY AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY: In four Nextel Cup Series races at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Haas CNC Racing's best qualifying effort was a 19th-place starting position, scored by driver Mike Bliss in this race one year ago. The team's best finish at Homestead was also accomplished by Bliss, who brought his Haas entry home in 12th position last November.
